Silverware and Upcycling Come to Sandia Vista Elementary
Sandia Vista is a green school!  That means we were built intentionally to save energy, recycle, and reduce our waste.  In keeping with this, our school cafeteria will use real silverware instead of plastic sporks starting the Monday after Thanksgiving break. That's 600 sporks 5 days a week that will NOT go to the landfill!
Upcycling also started this week.  What's upcycling?  Items that cannot be reused or recycled might be candidates for upcycling.  These items are sent to a third party and made into something cool.  For example, Sandia Vista will upcycle juice pouches that can be made into bags and Go Go Squeezes that are used to build playgrounds.  We will also upcycle dried out markers and mechanical pencils, empty tape rollers and dispensers, and snack/chip bags.  Ask your student what they can bring in from home for our upcycling brigades.  Our school gets money for items collected that will be used for future green endeavors that benefit your students for generations.  For more information visit

Box Tops
SVE is currently collecting Box Tops for Education and Labels for Education to help raise money for our school.  Simply cut out the label or box top and send it in to your child's classroom.  Classrooms with the most box tops will receive a special reward!

Mission: Rio Rancho Public Schools is dedicated to graduating each student with an educational foundation for success as a responsible, ethical contributor to society.
